Speakers/Performers:

ROBERT MEEROPOL: younger son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, author of "AN EXECUTION IN THE FAMILY".  In 1953, when he was six years old, the United States Government executed his parents for "conspiring to steal the secret of the atomic bomb."  He is the Executive Director of the Rosenberg Fund for Children, a public foundationthat provides for the educational and emotional needs of the children of U.S. political prisoners, as well as other children in the U.S. whose parents are targeted progressive activists.

RAY LUC LEVASSEUR:  Former Political Prisoner from Sanford, Maine, recently released from federal prison after 20 years inside.  Ray was convicted for actions claimed by the United Freedom Front, a clandestine revolutionary organization which in the early 1980's, targeted corporate and military institutions linked to South Africa's apartheid government and U.S. wars against the people of Central America.

LYNNE WILLIAMS: Northeast Regional Vice President, National Lawyers Guild, speaking on political prisoners and the USA PATRIOT Act.

FREE THE FIVE: representative from the committee working to free the five Cubans imprisoned in the US for fighting terrorist acts against  Cuba.

PRESENTE!: Boston-based performance troupe that uses music and spoken word to educate about u.s. political prisoners.

10am: PANEL DISCUSSION: What is a Political Prisoner?- Robert Meeropol, Ray Luc Levasseur, and Lynne Williams.

11:30am:  FREE THE FIVE- Presentation on the "Cuban 5" political prisoners.

11:50am: Music/spoken-word interlude by Presente!

12noon: Lunch provided by Portland Food Not Bombs (attendees are invited to bring extra potluck food).  During lunch, Robert Meeropol will be signing copies of his book.

3:15pm: *Tentative* presentation by members of Passamaquoddy Nation about police/prison repression against their people by Maine police and DOC.
