A good time to recall the wisdom of Fidel Castro -- speech given to the Rio Earth Summit in 1992:

Tomorrow will be too late, Fidel Castro

"How long do we stay apathetic? How long do we remain indefensible bits of a continent that its liberator saw as something more worthy and grander? How long are we Latin Americans going to be living in this miserable, ridiculous scenario? How long do we stay divided? How long will we be victims of powerful interests that ravage every one of our peoples? When will we deliver on our great slogan of union? We hear the call for unity inside our nations, so why don’t we also launch the slogan of unity of  nations ?"

Fidel – speech presented at Plaza Aérea del Silencio, Caracas, Venezuela, 23 January 1959.

"I am far from sharing that sinister false rumor spread by the Yankees about China’s destiny, and I wonder if we could ignore the fact that China has the biggest reserves of rare earth metals of the world and huge stocks of shale gas, which will allow it to exercise its power over the world’s energy production when the power of lying and subjugation come to an end. It is too much already".
